How to Set Required Fields and Basic Validation

   Mark a question required

   Open the question's properties panel and turn on Required. On Static forms this blocks submission until it's answered; on Dynamic forms it blocks advancing to the next question.

   Know the difference from validation

   Required only checks that an answer exists. It doesn't check that the answer is well-formed — that's a separate layer, and it only runs on Dynamic forms.

   Live format checks on Dynamic forms

   As someone types an answer to a text, email, or phone-type question, SiliForm runs live checks for obviously malformed input — a bad email format, non-numeric text in a phone field, or non-letter text in a name field — and blocks advancing until it's fixed.

   The AI plausibility check

   A separate AI check can also flag an answer that's syntactically valid but looks suspicious or fake, like “test@example.com”, with a dismissible warning — this doesn't hard-block the way the format checks do. See “Why Was My Answer Rejected While Filling Out a Form” for the full breakdown.

   Publish and test both layers

   Publish the form and fill it out yourself to confirm required questions block submission and, on Dynamic forms, malformed answers block advancing as expected.

Frequently asked questions

Does the live format check run on Static forms too?

No — the live per-keystroke format checks and the AI plausibility warning are specific to Dynamic (conversational) forms. Static forms rely on the Required toggle.

Does the AI warning ever block submission outright?

No. It shows a dismissible warning for answers that look suspicious but are technically valid — only the Required toggle and the live format checks can block progress.
