Switching from Google Forms
How to Move from Google Forms to SiliForm
Last updated 2026-08-03
There's no automated Google Forms importer yet. List out your existing questions, paste them into SiliForm's AI generator to draft a close first draft in seconds, then back up your response history before switching over. Once you're live on SiliForm, new responses can sync to Google Sheets through SiliForm's own Sheets integration — the export below is only about your old data.
- 1
Review your existing form
Open your Google Form in edit mode and note each question's text, type (short answer, multiple choice, checkboxes, linear scale), and whether it's required. There's no structured export of this list, so a quick read-through is the starting point.
- 2
Recreate it with AI
Click “New form” on your SiliForm dashboard, give it a name, and paste your question list into the prompt field. SiliForm's AI drafts a close first draft of the question flow in a few seconds — edit anything afterward in the builder, including recreating Google Forms' "Sections" as SiliForm Section blocks. Section titles used only as dividers (no question attached) aren't generated automatically since the AI produces answerable question blocks, not static text — re-add those by hand as Heading blocks.
- 3
Back up your response history
From your Google Form's Responses tab, use the ⋮ menu → Download responses (.csv) to back up your data — or, if you've linked a Google Sheet, export that instead. SiliForm doesn't support importing historical responses into a new form, so this keeps your existing data safe.
- 4
Swap your links
Once your rebuilt form is published, point respondents (students, leads, customers) at your new SiliForm short link instead of the old Google Forms one. The original Google Form isn't affected and can stay live during the transition.
Want us to do it for you?
Send a link to your live form (or a list of your questions) to our team and we'll rebuild it in SiliForm for you, free, for a limited time — no automated importer exists yet, so this is the fastest path to a 1:1 match.
Email sales@siliform.aiFrequently asked questions
- Can I import my Google Form responses into SiliForm?
- No — response history import isn't supported. Back up your existing responses first: use the Responses tab's ⋮ menu → Download responses (.csv), or export your linked Google Sheet if you have one. Once you're switched over, new SiliForm responses can sync to Google Sheets through SiliForm's own integration going forward.
- Does SiliForm support Google Forms' "Sections" the same way?
- Yes — SiliForm's Section blocks serve the same purpose. Recreate each Google Forms section as a Section block in the builder, and set its default navigation (Next Section, Jump to a Section, or Submit).
